Background

Flipkik is a web app used to help Gymnastics gym owners to organize all their information in one place.  They can track their finances, charge clients, track employees, allow employees access to take attendance, schedule events, monitor classes, message clients, and more!

THE PROBLEM

No Current Product Exists

This is a new feature in the Flipkik App. There is no existing Birthday Party section, so this is new territory for the team.

Additionally, having the ability for users to manage birthday parties is a feature not found in other gym management apps on the market, so this feature is important to tap into a niche.

THE SOLUTION

One Stop Shop

Users need an easy way to schedule, maintain, and monitor birthday parties from their clients, without needing to click off the app.

The Process

THE RESEARCH & NEEDS

I first needed to know what gyms were currently doing to manage birthday parties.

User Interviews

Learning from the source

I conducted user interviews from multiple gyms that were included on the beta for the app to see what they are currently doing when they want to set up a birthday party at their facility.

GOALS

Knowing this, it was important for me to make sure my designs included:

THE FINAL

Party Creation

I was able to create a fast user flow to book or set up a birthday party. This allowed for both clients and employees to schedule birthday parties, thus creating more flexibility.

Party Packages

After initial testing on the birthday party screens, user found it to be much easier to incorporate their overall workflow into the new birthday party feature!

However, feedback was provided to me by stakeholders that a new version that incorporated the branding better into the overall screens was needed.

I was able to achieve this without sacrificing the usability by updated the party packages to include the accent orange of the brand.

CHALLENGES & REFLECTION

Staying up to Date

The biggest challenge I had in this project, was the loss of Invision.

This initial web app was designed in InVision, which I had started these screen in. However, I was notified that InVision was to be shut down in late 2024. I took initiative to move this project over to a team Figma file to prevent any blockers occuring while working on this feature.
